Powerboat Course Algarve
This certificate is approved by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) – UK.
This course covers vessels up to 15m (45′) with no accommodation driven by outboard or inboard motors in fair weather up to 20 miles from a safe haven. There is no horsepower restriction.
The IYT Small Powerboat & RIB Master (Power Boat 2 equivalent) certificates do not require a commercial endorsement because they are commercial certificates.
Requirements to apply:
A current medical examination and a colour blindness eyesight examination, which allows the participant to safely perform the relevant duties on a powerboat, including being able to see and distinguish lights and signals of other vessels and navigational marks in typical weather conditions without risk to him/herself, other crewmembers or the safe operation of the vessel.

Powerboat course in Faro
After completing this Powerboat course you will be a self-sufficient power boater in the right conditions, aware of your own limitations.
This three day course covers two days practical boat handling and one day of theory including:
- Safety at sea
- VHF Radio operations
- Small powerboats and rigid inflatable boats
- Launching and recovery
- Anchors and anchoring
- Nautical terminology
- Boat handling under power
- Man overboard procedures
- Ropes and rope-work
- Basic rules of the road (collision regulations)
This course reviews theory in the classroom and covers practical boat handling & qualifies you for the International Certificate of Competence (ICC)
Children over 16 can attend a normal course at any time but we must have the parent/guardian’s specific permission – please call to discuss.
The “Powerboat 2” certificates issued by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) are recreational certificates and these certificates do require a “commercial endorsement” if one wishes to work commercially.
